Demonstrated across my body of work is a deep passion for the natural environment, in some of my most recent projects I have focussed in particular on the geological layers in the land. Objects observed on trips or holidays can also be a source for a creative project, an example would be the iron rings situated on the coastal path between Sennen and Lands End which prompted a collection of paintings and prints. Mono-printing is a prevalent part of my practice, I use my prints regularly as a source for new projects and as part of my current sketchbook.

I was introduced to the use of alternative materials on a fine art textiles course four years ago and have used them ever since, these materials include bitumen, wood-dyes, varnishes, gloss and tile paints, they enable me to express myself freely as the creative process is one of fluidity and sometimes an unconscious act. I apply the materials with a variety of tools including brushes, cloths, twigs and even tent pegs to create the desired mark. Over the past three years I have been combining these materials with the more traditional ones of oil paints and acrylic with interesting results.

My most recent body of work is a response to my deep connection with nature, often in an abstracted way, working from photo-graphs, memory and from mono-prints. It is evident that my current life experiences are also reflected in my work, this can be shown in a certain colour, form or a number of objects in the piece. I have been combining painting with print recently and would like to explore this in future project’s, I am also interested in how different materials respond on various surfaces having completed some small paintings on wood.
