The Liskerrett Community Centre. The story so far -and how you can become a member
The Liskerrett Community Centre is located within an attractive nineteenth century
school house situated in the market town of Liskeard.
The site of the former Liskeard Junior School was purchased by the Company in
September 2000 and renovation has been carried out with the aim of providing
a unique combination of space, resources and support services located close to
the centre of town. It is now providing these. Both the community as a whole,
as well as individuals are benefitting from a range of activities and services.
The Liskerrett Community Centre Company is made up of representatives from the
community and from the main user organisations. An administrator, Rachael Yarrow,
is employed on a part time basis as is Alan Barber who is our caretaker.
The project is now at a point where, although many things have been achieved, many
more things need to be addressed. A foreward strategy is being developed to ensure
the long term viability of the project, and to deal with day to day issues that are
important in running a successful venue.
This Centre was set up for the benefit of the community and we are inviting members
of local communities and users of the Centre to become members. Members can become
involved in the decision making about the Centre and representatives are elected
to serve on the committee which runs the Centre.
Membership is free and is open to individuals and groups.
(The Management Committee reserves the right to refuse membership).
