Rare Archive films show at Liskerrett Centre

Specially selected archive film material about Liskeard and the surrounding areas will be screened in a unique event at Liskerrett Centre, Liskeard.

West Cornwall based awen productions cic will be turning back time once again with their Tre Project – Rediscovering Cornwall and Isles of Scilly through Archive Film where rare archive films of the area will be given a contemporary twist at the Liskerrett Centre on Friday 3rd Februrary 2012 at 7.30pm.

Barbara Santi, director of awen productions, explained “Tre is a Cornish word for home/homestead. We’re really pleased to be coming to Liskeard again where we will be bringing out some rare gems from shedding light onto the region’s rich cultural history.”

The evening includes a Westward Diary film from the 1970’s of the Liskeard to Looe Branch Line, rare 1930’s/1940’s archive of Cornish farming, mining, Trades and Industries such as butter making and thatching as well new locally made films using archive exploring the theme of ‘home’.

Barbara continues “A special screening of ‘Oss Oss Wee Oss’ about Padstow’s ancient May Day ‘Obby ‘Oss festival will also be screened. This beautiful 1953 film made by well-known folklorist Alan Lomax has recently been re-issued by the British Film Institute (BFI). On the night members of the current Padstow Old Oss party whose families are in the original film will take part in a rare Q&A – an evening not to be missed!”

Suitable for all ages. Friday 3rd February 2012. Films start at 7.30pm.
