Film Screening

Location: Liskerrett Community Centre

Diary of a Lost Girl

106 minutes Certificate PG

Director - G W Pabst

Starring - Louise Brooks, Fritz Rasp

Live Soundtrack performed by Wurlitza

Diary of a Lost Girl features mesmerising screen idol Louise Brooks as a girl whose life yoyos between lightness and innocence, darkness and despair. There are moments of great comedy in this gripping film in which joy and compassion are found in the most unlikely places.

Wurlitza are a Cornish band specialising in creating live soundtracks to silent films. By adding a mix of classical, blues and pop music they bridge the gap between the centuries, adding a modern twist to extraordinary films. The music includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Django Reinhart, the Doors, Magic Numbers and Kraftwerk.

Before the main film there will also be a special screening of Living It Loving It. Made last summer with funding from FEAST, this short film provides an intimate portrait of Liskeard  – a town as lived in and loved by its residents!

Dance artist Lois Taylor working with Liskeard based film maker Steven Tolfrey from Studio Wallop asked people to choose their favourite outdoor space in or around the town of Liskeard and to dance there, to their favourite piece of music.  This film is the result.

The film has been launched on Vimeo and can also be seen at www.livingitlovingit.org.uk
